Steve Gurney

Steve Gurney – if you have not heard of this guy you're either dead or haven’t been born yet!

He has won the Coast to Coast - the unofficial World Multisport Championships - a record nine times. Up until 1994 he was a professional Multisport/triathlon athlete. Now he is more into "Adventure Racing". The more mud, guts, maps and compasses the better.

In New Zealand he competes in races such as the Speights Coast to Coast and the Southern Traverse. Internationally race events such as the Raid Gaulioses, Eco Challenge and Extreme Games. In 1994, a severe Leptospirosis infection caught from bat dung in the Mulu caves whilst racing in Sarawak jungles in Malaysia very nearly cost Steve his life with respiratory and renal failure. Being determined and impatient he has fought hard to get back to 125% fitness.

He has been part of numerous wining Adventure Racing teams such as the Subaru Primal Quest 2002 as well as the inaugural Length of New Zealand race in 2001.

He has been with Leppin for 10 years and absolutely loves Squeezy in either sachets, sling shots, or racers! He has also been known to consume large amounts of Endurance athlete or Pro-4 Protein powder to help with recovery from training.

Here is how the man puts it: “The Leppin squeezies are the backbone to all of my races. They are reliable energy, which I use before, during, and after the race for recovery. Leppin have a large range of products, which complement my training and speed up recovery. I particularly like the large variety of flavours (means you don't get sick of the same old thing). Leppin also has the edge in that they're scientifically formulated to have the right balance of ingredients so you get a noticeable and sustained rocket boost!”
